One Down One to Go

We're working to do our flower beds. They have received absolutely no attention since we moved here. First thing was to remove the two monstrous 12 foot holly bushes. They were utterly out of control. So last weekend, Jared began by cutting them down with a chainsaw. He then tied a chain around the first one, connected the chain to the hitch on the truck and ATTEMPTED to pull out the roots with NO LUCK! Our neighbor then came over with his truck to try and it bent his hitch ball. This bush is a beast!!
So Thursday afternoon, Jared dug around the bush, beat up the roots with a chainsaw and finally pulled out. Quite proud of his accomplishment, he wanted to have record of his success. So, here it is!

So after his success with Bush #1 he was prepared to try for #2. The problem, however, is that he couldn't pull it from the driveway and would have to get in the grass to pull it out. Once again, Jared dug around the bush, beat the roots with the chainsaw and pulled his truck into the grass. When he began to pull, the result wasn't the same, however. It resulted in the truck sinking into the grass. The other problem is that the chain was so taut that there was no way to unhook it from the truck and the truck was stuck. So, long story short, Jared was able to remove the hitch ball and get his truck out of our front yard. So, here we are...one down, one to go!

Hanging Out with Daddy

I had a baby shower to go to this afternoon and since Jared didn't get to play at the playground yesterday afternoon he and Kati Ann headed to the playground without me. They had a blast which was good because my poor baby is cutting 2-yr molars (hence the drool all over her shirt) and has not felt well.

Beans! Beans! Beans!

Being cooped up during the incredibly cold winter we have had has made us quite creative in our activity inside! We played with pinto beans in our kitchen! I know its crazy but at least we have a broom!

Derek & Kati Ann

This afternoon we were out and the weather was beautiful so I decided to swing by the church and let Kati Ann play on the playground for just a minute. While we were there the Edwards kids showed up to play. We turned out having so much fun together. The boys were so sweet to Kati Ann. Derek (the 4th grader) played with Kati Ann on the grasshopper. I had to get some pictures because they were adorable together!

A long-awaited piece of furniture

When we did our big remodel (the one when we took down all the walls), I sacrificed my desk knowing that I would have to have something to replace it but not knowing exactly what I wanted. So, the contents of my desk were in rubbermaid containers in the garage and most inconvenient when I needed something to work with. So after envisioning what I wanted, hunting countless furniture stores & internet sites to find just the "right" piece that fit my "vision" (after almost a year) I finally have a piece to hold the contents of my desk. I absolutely love it!! It is exactly what I envisioned. Now all of my desk contents have a home (inside the house).

Fort Allen

As I'm writing this entry, Daddy & Kati Ann (and Bailey) are playing inside the fort we built with the dining chairs and a king size sheet! They are playing and reading books and having all sorts of fun.

Kati Ann's new kitchen

Well the kitchen actually arrived January 11th but as you've noticed I haven't been doing the best job keeping up with my blog. (I'm hoping to do better). Three precious sisters that go to our church (one of which is Kati Ann's regular babysitter) wanted to give Kati Ann the kitchen they played with growing up. We were excited because now we are enjoying cupcakes and gingerbread cookies from Chef Kati Ann. It has been lots of fun and so delicious!
